| Have a trial run |
| The morning
of your wedding is sure to fly by, so it's
a good idea to have a run-through at least
once to ensure that everything runs like
clockwork when the big day comes. You are
bound to experience interruptions throughout
the morning - delivery of your bouquets,
arrival of your bridesmaids etc., so allow
plenty of time. |
|
| |
If you are going to do
your makeup and hair yourself, we recommend
you have a few trial runs before your wedding
day so that you know roughly how much time
you will need to get ready. Prepare a checklist
to make sure you have everything with you
and on the day itself allow at least an
extra hour to avoid rushing last-minute. |
|
| Makeup |
| Makeup is
a personal choice - some brides prefer a
barely-there look, while others enjoy a
more made-up look. Some brides like to do
their own makeup in the way that they are
used to, while others love the pampering
that comes with having their makeup professionally
applied. Whatever suits you will be fine. |
|
| |
It is entirely your choice
and your photographs will capture your beauty
however you choose to wear your makeup.
As far as the camera is concerned, you can
afford to go a little heavier on your eye
makeup, but the general rule is not to wear
makeup in a dramatically different way than
usual. |
|
| Hair |
| Again, it is entirely
your choice. Soft curls are romantic, stylish
up-do's are elegant and sophisticated, a
side bun can be soft and informal ... there
are so many styles to choose from that it
is important to opt for one that you feel
comfortable with. Try a few styles out and
try out each look whilst wearing your wedding
dress too. |
|
|
| Bridesmaids |
| |
If your wedding dress
has a lace-up bodice, it is very important
to ensure that your attendants have practised
fastening your dress. In the boutique it
will have been laced up quickly by expert
hands - on your wedding day it can take
a lot longer, especially when hands are
shaking! The less rushed, the more perfect
your lacing will be. |
| Remember that your attendants
or bridesmaids will be busy getting themselves
ready on the morning of your wedding, so
try to make sure that they are ready in
plenty of time to help you with your bridal
preparations. Time does tend to run away
with you, and you don't want to feel rushed
before you leave for your ceremony. |
|
|
| Shoes |
| |
It is lovely to take
your beautiful wedding shoes fresh out of
their box on the morning of your wedding
day, but it's also a very time-consuming
and fiddly job to remove all the labels
from the underside when you've so much left
to do and your wedding car has just arrived!
This is a job that is best sorted in advance
of your wedding day. |
|
| Flowers |
| Check the bottom of your
bouquet before holding it against your dress
- they are often still wet from their vase
and can wet or even stain your pristine
wedding dress. Have one of your bridesmaids
dab them firmly on a towel before handing
them to you, to avoid any unneccessary accidents. |
|
|
| Remember your keys |
| |
We know it sounds obvious
but it's not unheard of for a bride to leave
for the ceremony, only to find they she
has forgotten her house keys! If you are
getting ready at home, make sure someone
is responsible for the keys so that they
don't get left behind. With so much going
on it's worth writing a checklist. |
|
| Eat |
| You may feel too nervous
to eat, but have a little something if you
can. We promise, you will be glad you did
- it is a long time until your wedding breakfast
and the last thing you want is to feel dizzy,
tired or hungry at your wedding. Having
something in your tummy will mean you feel
at your best all day. Keep hydrated too.
|
|
|
| Keep makeup to hand |
| |
Have one of your bridesmaids
look after any makeup you feel you may need
throughout the day. It is a good idea to
re-apply your lipgloss and powder your nose
before your formal photographs are taken.
Aim to touch up before your traditional
photographs, before your wedding breakfast
and before your evening reception. |
|
| The Ceremony |
| Your ceremony is the
most special few moments of your life and
we will be as unintrusive as possible. We
will not move around, and we will take photographs
only at natural pauses, during laughter,
during the exchange of rings and when you
kiss. We are particularly discreet and it
is likely that you will not notice the camera
at all. |
|
|
| The Kiss |
| |
The last thing you will
be thinking about on being pronounced husband
and wife is the camera - and quite right
too. We'd encourage you to have a lingering
kiss though, not least because it will be
one of the most emotional moments of your
life, but also for your guests to capture
pictures and, of course, for our cameras
too! |
|
| Signing the Register |
| Most wedding officials
prefer us to stand back while the register
is being signed in order to avoid signatures
being recorded. For this reason we will
stage the signing of the register a few
moments after the actual signing has taken
place. It is also a lovely opportunity to
have your witnesses join you. |
|
|
| Confetti |
| |
Confetti makes a gorgeous
series of photographs, and we will arrange
with your ushers and guests to take a formal
confetti shot. It is natural for guests
to want to throw confetti at you from the
moment you step outside your ceremony venue,
so if you make sure you have plenty on hand
we can capture some beautiful images for
you. |
|
| Photography |
| From experience we recommend
that your wedding reception (before your
wedding breakfast commences) is no less
than one hour and no longer than two hours.
In general traditional photographs take
around twenty minutes, as do Bride &
Groom photographs, and you'll want to leave
plenty of time to mingle with your guests. |
|
|
| Traditional Group Photographs |
| |
Your formal group photographs
should take no more than around twenty minutes
and we will try to keep things running as
efficiently as possible. If you can make
sure that your ushers are primed to assist
us, it will help to ensure that guests are
not kept waiting around, and you will have
more time to mingle! |
|
| Bride & Groom Photographs |
| It's all about you! We
know you'll appreciate the chance to spend
some time together as we explore the photographic
opportunities around your wedding venue.
Be as informal or as formal as you wish
- we'll direct you and are open to spontaneous
suggestions, so feel free to let the model
in you go wild! |
|
|
| Posing |
| |
There are certain photographs
that benefit from a degree of structure
and posing but don't worry about this -
we will guide you every step of the way.
We will give you ideas to worth with and
leave the rest to you - the more you are
yourselves, the more your wedding photographs
will reflect the beauty of your day. |
|
| Natural photographs |
| Having a camera around
might make you feel like you need to perform
for it - you don't. By far the most gorgeous
pictures of your wedding day are likely
to be those that are taken while you are
at your most natural - enjoying yourselves
and forgetting the camera is even there.
After all, that tells the true story of
your day. |
|
|
| Fun Photographs |
| |
Talking of going wild,
you wedding day is a great time to capture
some fun shots if you fancy letting loose.
If you have a bouncy castle for example,
it can make for fabulously unique shots
that you will treasure for a lifetime. We're
there to capture every aspect of your day
- be as serene or as funky as you like! |
|
| Holding your Bouquet |
| With so much to think
about, holding your bouquet tends to be
low on the priority list but to ensure that
the dress you spent so long choosing looks
absolutely gorgeous, try to remember to
hold your bouquet at belly button height
during your traditional photographs, so
that the top of your dress may be seen by
the camera. |
|
|
| Kissing |
| |
Kissing, of course, adds
an air of true romance to your wedding pictures
and it is likely that you will be kissing
a lot throughout your wedding day! There
are a couple of tricks to ensure that your
photographs capture you at your best, but
don't worry too much about this as we will
guide you during the more formal photographs. |
| When kissing your bride
or groom for the camera, try to do so slowly
and hold it for a couple of seconds. Some
of the most romantic shots are taken just
before a kiss. If you hold your head straight
up so that your noses are side by side,
this will ensure that both of you are seen
in the photograph. |
